Cllr Sarah Boad has reacted angrily to the decision by Conservative controlled Warwickshire County Council to double the 30 minute on street parking charge to 40p.

She commented “The decision was made by Conservative Cllr Alan Cockburn, the portfolio holder, who refused – point blank – to consult with Leamington Town Council and the Warwick Area Committee before making his decision. He also disregarded the concerns of Leamington Chamber of Trade about the affect on local businesses.

“On Street parking fees in Leamington provides over £300,000 profit for the County Council – it is about time we saw some of this money reinvested locally in worthwhile traffic schemes such as bus routes and cycleways”

Parking for 1 hour will increase to £1.20 and for 2 hours to £2.40.
