Good news, the five bus shelters on Valley Road, Mason Avenue and Buckley Road are to be retained following a period of uncertainty over their future due to the excessive costs of continuing repairs.
Cllr Alan Boad said, “We had made it clear to the Council that the bus shelters must be retained given the high level of bus usage in the area. We actually have requests for more!” Each panel costs £250 to replace, the shelter in the picture will cost £1500 to repair!
Your Councillors are currently having discussions with the Council and the Youth Centre to see if a cheaper and more robust repair could be carried out. The shelters may then be suitable to possibly become part of the successful local mural project. We would like to know what you think!
The shelters are due to be repaired in the next 2 months, hopefully there will be enough money to do them all!
